The budding CBD beauty trend goes mainstream

Elena Peratikos, Senior Account Manager in our Beauty team tells us more about the latest skincare trends hitting the high street.

Is it natural? Is it vegan? Are there any nasties in it? All now standard questions posed by consumers when it comes to their latest beauty buys.

The last five years has seen a continued rise in demand for natural and plant-based skincare and as a result, CBD is predicted to be the next big plant-beauty trend and buzzword in 2019.

But what is it and why is everyone talking about it?

The non-psychoactive compound derived from the marijuana plant has been making a name for itself in the beauty industry, already boasting a high profile US fan base that includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Alessandra Ambrosio.

And at the forefront of cannabidiol (CBD) skincare in the UK is our client, Holland & Barrett, who this month launches its very own 100% natural CBD skincare range – one of the first CBD beauty ranges on the high street.

H&B’s CBD beauty range is natural, plant-based and packed with omega-rich oils, vitamins and antioxidants. The launch itself symbolises the moment CBD Beauty shook off its alternative image and moved into the mainstream fixture.

Because this isn’t just another fad. Emerging scientific research supports not only the multiple benefits of CBD cosmetics such as helping regulate the skin’s sebum production but also the impact it can have on reducing free radicals and being suitable for use on problem skin.

We are currently speaking to journalists and influencers about the new range, so you’ll be reading much more about it in the media soon. And of course you can check out the range for yourself at H&B if you’re interested. Let us know what you think about the CBD beauty trend by dropping us a note at beauty@thisispegasus.co.uk.
