Corrina Safeio, new MD at Pegasus, reflects on the incredible challenges that the team have risen to over the last few weeks.
What would a Pegasus blog be this week without a heavy focus on COVID-19? These last two weeks have been like no other, with one comms agency boss on Twitter begging us to find synonyms for ‘unprecedented’.
There is no manual, no case study, and no wise seasoned professional to turn to ask, “How did you do this last time?” Evidently, we have exactly what we need to get through this crisis, our special agency culture and strong and enduring client relationships.
Going beyond values, we have five Pegasus behaviours: think big, make a difference, have spirit, stand together and take pride. Now, especially, they are proving to be our bedrock – an assumed way in which we will handle this.
Our Office & Ops team showed spirit by coolly getting us all home and, within a matter of hours, up and running. We barely missed a beat. And, sure, there are a couple of IT challenges we are still working through – but I’m sure we will forgive the large file that takes longer to download because every child in the country has nicked their parents iPad and is draining the Wi-Fi. (Please tell me it’s not just mine?).
When it comes to making a difference and thinking big, our client partnerships are at the heart of how we handle this – working together to reassess plans, switch channels and tone messages appropriately. While it is not quite business as usual, we still need to work with our clients to inspire healthy decisions. We still really do need to continue to improve people’s lives and, for many of our client partners, this is more important and more urgent than ever.
I am consistently impressed with my resilient, creative and smart Pegasus teammates. I am in awe of the fearlessness and tenacity of our clients that we work hand in hand with.
So COVID-19 becomes a crisis to navigate. Stay at home and stay safe. Kids will turn up on Zoom calls, dogs will eat your laptop charger (true story), and we will socialise through Quarantini hour on House Party.
A massive thank you all. This collective effort and standing together is what will see us through.
